Job summary

Greater Chicago Food Depository is hiring a Benefits Enrollment Specialist to connect neighbors with SNAP, Medicaid, and other critical resources. The role involves pre-screening for eligibility, guiding applicants through the process, and providing in-person and phone support across Cook County.

The position supports partners and coordinates with the Manager of Public Benefits to increase safety-net enrollment. Hybrid work includes in‑office days and occasional events in the community.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience providing direct service to individuals and families.
• Experience with public benefit programs and their respective application processes is preferred.
• Familiarity with Chicago North/Northwest or South/Southwest neighborhoods.
• Fluency in Polish or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist neighbors over the phone and in person with SNAP and Medicaid applications.
• Educate neighbors about eligible programs and provide follow‑up to enroll.
• Provide administrative support for submission of benefits applications and documentation.
• Maintain accurate case files and track applications and partner interactions.
• Develop relations with IDHS offices and other departments.
