Job summary

The Council on Aging (COA) is seeking a Benefits Enrollment Center Specialist to help individuals apply for cost-saving benefits. The BECS will assist with applications, conduct home visits, and collect required documentation to support clients through the process.

This grant-funded role requires strong computer skills, excellent communication, and the ability to travel within Southwestern Ohio. The position emphasizes a person-centered approach, confidentiality, and collaboration with COA staff

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in social services or direct customer service.
• Proficient in Windows, MS Word and MS Excel; must learn new software.
• Ability to travel within Southwestern Ohio with a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent customer service, organization and written/oral communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and collaborative teamwork abilities.
• Respect for cultural, spiritual, racial and ethnic diversity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with COA staff and external partners to support the Benefits Enrollment Center Grant and provide person-centered service.
• Submit applications to appropriate organizations and follow up as necessary.
• Conduct in-person visits to screen and assist clients with completing applications and verifications.
• Perform follow-up calls and visits to ensure submissions, resolve issues and receipt of benefits.
• Educate clients on recertification processes to retain benefits.
• Document all activities per policy and maintain client confidentiality.
