Job summary

GE Aerospace in Norwich, CT is seeking a manufacturing associate to operate hydroforming equipment and inspect parts for conformance to prints and specifications.

You will set up and run Hydroformer horizontal and vertical machines, perform tubing corrugation, and maintain thorough labor documentation. Training includes various mechanical processes; you will help with tool changes and cross-train with teammates.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED equivalency required.
• 1 year manufacturing experience required.
• Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
• Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools (micrometers, measuring tape, calipers, etc.)
• Basic understanding of mathematical principles; may require conversions to decimal system.

Responsibilities

• Produce and verify parts meet print and specifications.
• Set up and operate Hydroformer horizontal forming machines on processed work.
• Operate vertical Hydroformer machine on processed work.
• Corrugate shells to form bellows: cutting, deburring, bumping, sizing and annealing tubes; include hydroformer operations.
• Develop skills to operate lathes, optical comparator, hydroformers, hydraulic press, bead blaster, flow tester, proof pressure tester, hydrogen furnace, etc.
• Complete all labor tracking documentation (written and electronic).
• Perform visual inspections and operate optical comparator.
• Verify and change tools when necessary.
• Perform mechanical inspection to verify in-process parts for conformance to print/specs.
• Use PPE and follow safety procedures; cross-train with others as needed.
• Complete Oracle transactions as required.
• Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
• Keep shift operators informed of special problems; communicate with team on new processes and issues.
