You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, build positive relationships, and work with staff to create a safe, inclusive classroom environment. Immediate start available with full-time/flexible hours and competitive daily rates.

Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)

A welcoming and supportive school in Hartlepool is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Worker to join their team. This Behaviour Support Worker role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children and young people overcome behavioural, social and emotional barriers to learning.

The successful Behaviour Support Worker will work closely with pupils who require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement. You will build positive and trusting relationships, act as a consistent role model and support pupils in developing the skills they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Worker:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.

Supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge and emotional regulation.

Building positive, professional and trusting relationships with pupils.

Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

Using effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and participation.

Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and self-esteem.

Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams.

Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and other additional needs where required.

Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Behaviour Support Worker Will:

Have previous experience working with children or young people.

Have experience supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge.

Be confident working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

Be patient, resilient and adaptable in approach.

Have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.

Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, ASD or ADHD (desirable).

Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Hold Team Teach training (desirable but not essential).

Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

Have a fully checkable work history.
