St. Louis Developmental Disabilities Treatment Centers seeks a Behavioral Technician for the St. Charles Habilitation Center location.

The role involves semi-skilled direct care and implementing behavioral programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, with shifts on first or second shift. The position requires at least one year of direct care experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Implement behavioral support techniques as directed by the behavior resource team for consumers who may need more restrictive environments.
  • Respond to crisis situations and apply interventions until behavior is safe.
  • Train others in behavior support plan implementation and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Assist in transfers and physical restraint procedures when needed.
  • Apply hands-on care to support dependent individuals.
  • Maintain and update trainings including CORE, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Develop and maintain Behavior Support Strategies training within six months of starting.
  • Develop and maintain Mental Health First Aid training within six months of starting.
  • Complete BST Skills validation within one year of starting.

This position is located at St. Charles Habilitation Center, 22 Marr Lane, St. Charles, Missouri 63303. There are possible positions available on either our first shift (6:30am – 3:00 pm) or second shift (2:30pm - 11:00 pm).

Responsibilities - What You’ll Do

This is semi-skilled direct care work implementing behavioral programs for persons with developmental disabilities exhibiting behavioral problems severe enough to endanger their current level of placement.

  • Implement behavioral support techniques developed by the behavior resource team for consumers potentially requiring more restrictive environments due to their behaviors.
  • Respond to crisis situations and implement interventions established until behavior is safe.
  • Ability to implement and instruct others in the implementation of behavior support plans and crisis intervention techniques
  • Ability to lift clients and assist in performing transfers and physical restraint procedures.
  • Use of hands-on skills (dependent care).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard behavior modification techniques, including receiving an Advanced Skills certificate of the Safety Care program, and maintaining this certification.
  • Ability to maintain all trainings, including CORE, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Ability to train and maintain Behavior Support Strategies training within six (6) months of starting.
  • Ability to train and maintain Mental Health First Aid training within six (6) months of starting.
  • Ability to train and maintain Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale within 90 days of starting.
  • Must successfully demonstrate the Essential Skills - BST Skills within one year of starting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • One or more years of direct care experience with implementing behavior support plans for persons with developmental disabilities and possession of high school diploma or equivalency and a valid driver's license.
