Job summary

Northwest Community Services’ Optimistic Beginnings, a State of Missouri agency, seeks an entry-level Behavioral Technician in Marshall, MO to support individuals on goals, coping skills, and daily living tasks using a trauma-informed approach.

You will join a treatment team, observe and report changes, assist with basic health care, and help transport clients to activities while maintaining a safe environment. No prior experience required; background screening is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Valid Missouri Driver’s License; able to drive on various roads.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to read material.
  • Physical ability to intervene to maintain safety.
  • Trauma-informed experience or personal recovery background preferred but not required.
  • Pass a background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, report, and assist in recording changes in physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of clients.
  • Assist in providing basic health care for clients: check vital signs and apply simple dressings.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
  • Administer medication after completing agency training.
  • Use state vehicles to transport clients to appointments and activities.
  • Assist clients in participating in activities such as fishing, shopping, movie outings, and dining out.
  • Assist clients with meals, bathing, grooming, etc. as needed.

Behavior Technician

Northwest Community Services’ Optimistic Beginnings is a State of Missouri agency that operates under the Department of Mental Health. NWCS is recruiting to fill several Behavioral Technician positions in Marshall, Missouri.

Overview

This is an entry‑level behavioral technician position. You will be part of a treatment team that supports individuals in achieving personal goals, promoting healthy coping skills, and learning daily living skills. The program uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and follows a trauma‑informed, person‑centered approach.

Responsibilities
  • Observe, report, and assist in recording changes in physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of clients.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Valid Missouri Driver’s License; able to drive during daylight or nighttime, on rural, highway, or metropolitan roads.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to read written material.
  • Physical ability to intervene to maintain safety.
  • Experience with trauma‑informed services or personal recovery background is preferred but not required.
