Baystate Health in Palmer, MA is seeking a part-time Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) to join Baystate Wing Hospital. The role focuses on safety observation and direct patient care for behavioral health patients, ensuring a supportive and vigilant environment.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPR/BLS, CPI within 6 months, and 1 year of patient care experience (2 years in behavioral health preferred). It offers a 12-hour night shift with every other weekend.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of relevant patient care experience required; 2 years in behavioral health preferred.
• CPR through American Heart Association BLS Provider required.
• CPI required within 6 months of employment.
• Experience as a direct health care provider or psych sitter (CNA, MA HHA, or PCA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety observation of the patient or patients they are assigned to.
• Maintain a safe environment and interact with the patient, family, and staff in a caring professional manner.
• Provide care for the patient and may include bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning as assigned.
• Reporting any changes in the patient’s condition or behavior to the nurse immediately and documenting every 15 minutes during their shift.
• Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients based on the care of the suicidal patient policy. Staff providing patient safety observation must remain awake and alert at all times.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
