Job summary

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, invites applications for a Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. This full-time role covers 36 hours weekly with 12-hour day shifts and rotating weekends/holidays.

You will provide patient safety observation, maintain a safe environment, and assist with basic care tasks while communicating changes to nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of relevant patient care experience required; 2 years preferred.
• CPR through American Heart Association BLS Provider required.
• CPI required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety observation of the patient or patients they are assigned to.
• Maintain a safe environment and interact with the patient, family, and staff in a caring professional manner.
• Provide care for the patient and may include bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning as assigned.
• Report any changes in the patient’s condition or behavior to the nurse immediately and document every 15 minutes during their shift.
• Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients based on the care of the suicidal patient policy.
• Staff providing patient safety observation must remain awake and alert at all times.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
