Job summary

Homes for Independent Living (HIL) seeks a Behavioral Service Specialist to monitor and support clients and staff in residential settings with complex behavioral needs. You will respond urgently, help investigate incidents, and mentor staff under supervision to reduce escalations.

Applicants should have a human services background, strong problem solving, and effective communication. A Wisconsin driver’s license and flexibility for shifts are expected. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two+ years in human services with behavioral needs.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or social work preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond urgently to behavioral events, providing direct intervention and post-event support.
• Investigate incidents, conduct meetings, and report findings to leadership.
• Mentor staff through on-the-floor training under supervision.
• Prepare root cause analyses and update Behavioral Support Plans as needed.
• Assist in training program development and dissemination of best practices.
