Job summary

College Medical Center Long Beach is seeking a Nursing Unit Manager for the Behavioral Health Unit. You will supervise Behavioral Health staff and oversee clinical and medical flow for all patients admitted to the BHU at the main campus.

Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health Services, you will participate in personnel decisions, staff development, and policy updates, while providing clinical and administrative leadership to RN, LVN, BH workers and CNAs.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as an RN.
• 5 years patient care or BHU experience.
• 3 years supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
• Customer service abilities including effective listening.
• Critical thinking skills with decisive judgment in a fast paced environment.
• Assist with staff development, scheduling, updating policies and procedures.
• Provide clinical and administrative leadership to nursing staff including RN, LVN, BH personnel.
• Develop educational programs to promote professional development; promote evidence based practice.
• Appraise performance and address disciplinary matters.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Behavioral Health staff and direct clinical and medical flow of patients.
• Participate in personnel selection, education, discipline, and expertise level decisions.
• Report to the Director of Behavioral Health Services and coordinate with leadership.
• Provide both clinical and administrative leadership to the nursing team.
• Develop education programs to foster staff development and professional growth.
