Job summary

Southeast Behavioral Health Clinic in Fargo, ND is hiring a Behavioral Health Therapist to support individuals in crisis with high-quality care and a focus on recovery and dignity. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or other ND Board-approved master’s degree.
  • ND licensure as LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT as applicable.
  • Doctorate in Psychology with ND licensure as a psychologist may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assess situations and develop safety plans for individuals in crisis.
  • Coordinate with hospitals, law enforcement, treatment facilities, and community partners for crisis stabilization.
  • Provide rotational coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, across the clinic.
  • Travel to meet clients at their locations within the Fargo, ND area as needed.
  • Respond to crises within 20 minutes and maintain person-centered, least-restrictive care.

Job description

Southeast Behavioral Health Clinic is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist in the Fargo, North Dakota.
Sign-on bonus of up to $15,000

As one of our Behavioral Health Therapists, you will be part of a team that supports people during some of their most vulnerable moments. You will help individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis with high-quality care where treatment is effective, recovery is possible, and each person is treated with dignity and respect.

You will assess each situation, help reduce immediate concerns, develop safety plans, and connect individuals with the services and support that best meet their needs. You will work closely with local hospitals, law enforcement, treatment facilities, and other community partners to provide crisis stabilization and therapeutic intervention.

You will also coordinate with local social detox programs and crisis residential facilities and assist with admissions to the North Dakota State Hospital when a higher level of care is needed.

You will work with other Behavioral Health Therapists to provide rotational coverage when the Behavioral Health Clinic is closed. This includes nights, weekends, and holidays. You will typically work every third weekend and participate in a rotating holiday schedule.

To thrive in this position, you should be able to remain calm and focused in high-stress and unpredictable situations. You will need to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions about a person's care while using a person-centered approach and considering the least restrictive option available. You should be comfortable working in situations where there may not be one clear or simple answer.

You must also be comfortable providing services outside of a traditional clinical setting. This may include meeting people in their homes, hospitals, treatment facilities, and other locations throughout the community.

To Be Considered For This Position, You Must Have a Master's Degree In Social Work, Counseling, Marriage And Family Therapy Or Any Other Master's Degree Approved By a North Dakota Board, And ND Licensure As a One Of The Following

  • LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
  • LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor)
  • LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)

or A Doctorate in Psychology and ND licensure as a psychologist by the ND Board of Psychologist Examiners

We will consider filling this position as a Human Relations Counselor or a Licensed Addiction Counselor at a reduced rate.

Human Relations Counselors require master's degree in social work and ND licensure as a LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) by the ND Board of Social Work Examiners;
  • Or A master's degree in counseling and ND licensure as a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) By the ND Board of Counselor Examiners.
  • Or A master's degree in counseling and LAPC licensure
  • Or A master's degree in counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy-LAMFT licensure (if applicant is far along with the process to obtain their LPCC/LMFT within two years from the date of hire)

Licensed Addiction Counselor position, you are required to have a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, counseling or Psychology AND have a current licensure as an Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners.

This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of the assigned defensive driving course during new-hire orientation.

Location

This position provides essential client services face to face and therefore the person in this position needs be able to travel to meet the clients at their location within the Fargo, North Dakota area. Must maintain the ability to respond to crisis situations within 20 minutes in the Fargo/West Fargo area from current location while still providing timely services throughout the organization's six county service area.
