Job Description

Position Title: Behavioral Health Technician

Department: Clinical

Reports To: Supervisor of Clinical Support Staff

Supervises: N/A

Entry Level Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, CRC, or CRSS preferred.
• One year experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and understand principles of chemical dependency recovery.
• Maintain records and possess good communication skills.
• Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Physical ability to walk, sit, and assist patients as described.
• Ability to administer CPR and be certified.
• Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations.
• Two years of continuous verifiable abstinence if recovering.

General Responsibilities

Behavioral Health Techs are integral to the facility's functioning, interacting with patients per established policies and procedures, including facilitating patient orientation.

Essential Functions

• Assist in luggage and body searches.
• Monitor and facilitate Book Studies and Recovery meetings.
• Maintain awareness of patient locations and document hourly checks.
• Ensure patients follow the program schedule and are punctual.
• Supervise and facilitate patient activities.
• Monitor patient rooms in the evening.
• Oversee medication line to prevent diversion and de-escalate situations.
• Assist patients with activities, medication, and meals as needed.
• Assist counselors and document appropriately.
• Adhere to policies and demonstrate ability to support patients' treatment goals.
• Manage community interactions, redirect behavior, and report shifts.
• Attend training and assist nursing staff.
• Drive patients to appointments and errands.
• Maintain professionalism and alertness at all times.
• Work cooperatively with staff and patients.
• Maintain regular attendance.

• Friday – Sunday 10am – 10pm
• Friday – Sunday 10pm – 10am
• Monday – Thursday 2pm – 12am
• Monday – Thursday 10pm – 8am
