Job summary

Ascension Center for Mental Health in Arlington Heights, IL, seeks staff for the Crisis Services department. Rotating shifts and PRN scheduling frame the role, with backfill for nights and weekdays as needed.

You will participate in direct patient care, observe behaviors, and document changes for treatment planning. Relevant licensure with BLS and CPI or nursing aide credentials enhances eligibility.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire or transfer date (AHA/ARC accepted).
• CPI credential preferred; Nurse Aide credential preferred by IDPH.
• High school equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience or higher education/experience mix.

• Provide or assist with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
• Report changes in condition and suggest treatment plan modifications.
• Schedule: Every Friday 11:00 pm - 9:30 am; weekday shifts as needed.

Education

High School diploma equivalency / 2+ yrs experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years applicable experience

BLS Provider certification (1 month of hire)

CPI Crisis Prevention credential preferred

Nurse Aide credential preferred (IDPH)

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Schedule: Every Friday 11:00 pm - 9:30 am; weekday shifts as needed
• Provide or assist with providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities.
• Report any changes in condition and suggest modifications to the treatment plan.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Crisis Prevention credentialed from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred. ⢠Nurse Aide credentialed from the Illinois Department of Public Health preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• Individual with lived experience of substance use and/or mental health
• Completing certified recovery support specialist coursework and obtaining a certificate within a year of employment
