Title: Behavioral Health Specialist

Role Description: The purpose of a Behavioral Health Specialist at Oak Street Health is to provide care management services and evidence-based short-term psychotherapy to patients with behavioral health needs. They coordinate and support behavioral healthcare, assess patient needs, make referrals, and provide short-term counseling and treatments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with primary care teams to identify patients for referral
  • Screen and assess patients for mental health and substance use disorders
  • Develop care plans and facilitate referrals
  • Provide short-term counseling and evidence-based treatments
  • Coordinate care with psychiatric consultants
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records
  • Participate in regional and organizational efforts to improve the program
  • Potentially cover multiple clinics based on needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required:

  • Masters Degree in mental health counseling or related field from an accredited school
  • Highest clinical level of license or local equivalent
  • Experience with screening and assessment of mental health/substance use disorders
  • Familiarity with brief, structured intervention techniques
  • US work authorization

  • Proficiency in brief, structured intervention techniques
  • Knowledge of differential diagnoses

The minimum annual wage is $55,400 and the maximum is $89,840, excluding bonuses and overtime. The typical pay range is $60,522 - $129,615, depending on experience and other factors.
