Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• Active Texas RN license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• CPI training within 30 days of hire date is expected.
• Computer skills are needed to be effective on assigned units.
• Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Delivers care in accordance with Nurse Practice Act and ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice.
• Performs nursing care using sound judgment.
• Implements physician orders safely and accurately.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribes and implements new physician orders.
• Adapts to unit needs with flexibility and adaptability.
• Maintains detailed and accurate nursing records.
• Provides education and emotional support to patients and significant others.
• Gives patient rounds and prioritizes needs.
