Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX, seeks a Registered Nurse for Day shift at the Behavioral Health facility. You will provide comprehensive nursing care, administer medications and therapies, coordinate with physicians, and educate patients and families in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The role requires TX RN licensure, BSN preferred, BLS, CPI training within 30 days, and strong communication skills. Prior behavioral health experience is a plus; bilingual abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current registered nurse’s license in the State of Texas.
• Current BLS certification.
• Accepts assignment to any behavioral health unit.
• CPI training within 30 days of hire date.
• Computer skills required to be effective on assigned units.
• Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
• Prefer hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values to others.
• Ensures care is delivered in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Standards.
• Performs nursing care using sound judgment.
• Implements physician orders safely and accurately.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribes and implements new physician orders.
• Maintains detailed and accurate records of nursing actions.
• Participates in counseling, teaching and emotional support for patients and families.
• Makes rounds on assigned patients and prioritizes needs.
• Administers medications and therapies within nursing scope.
