Job summary

Alpharus Health in Chicago, IL is seeking a Residential Assistant for the 1st shift (Sun-Thurs, 8am-4pm) to support patients in a structured, therapeutic setting. This full-time role requires a high school diploma and a compassionate, professional approach.

You will observe patients, document interactions, assist with activities, coordinate transportation, and help maintain safety and adherence to program guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21+ to operate company vehicles with valid license.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries and compassionate interaction with patients.
• Strong observation, communication, documentation, and de-escalation skills required.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients and monitor behavior to ensure safety and adherence to program guidelines.
• Report incidents, behavioral concerns, medical issues, or missing patients to staff promptly.
• Document observations and patient interactions in accordance with policy.
• Supervise and participate in daily patient activities and routines.
• Conduct regular bed checks and patient counts as per policy and procedures.
• Coordinate and drive patients to appointments, work, or approved activities.
• Perform basic administrative tasks (phones, filing, documentation support).
• Support patient events and structured activities and assist with educational groups under supervision.
