Job summary

Saint John Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide compassionate, hands-on care for patients with acute mental health needs in an inpatient setting. You will work with RNs and an interdisciplinary team to promote safety, stabilization, and recovery.

Responsibilities include medication administration, patient monitoring, crisis intervention, and care coordination to create a therapeutic environment where patients can heal.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state license as an LPN or Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
• BLS (AHA) certification require upon hire and maintained.
• IV certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute mental and behavioral health needs in an inpatient setting.
• Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, mental status, and safety risks.
• Administer medications as ordered and monitor for side effects.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation to promote unit safety.
• Support admissions, discharges, and transfers, including patient education.
• Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation per policy and regulations.

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00 pm to 7:00 am

Location: Saint John Hospital – Leavenworth, KS
