Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Behavioral Health Unit at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.

The role involves 12-hour day shifts (7:00 am–7:00 pm) in an inpatient behavioral health setting, collaborating with RNs and an interdisciplinary team to provide safe, compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include medication administration, patient monitoring, crisis intervention, and care coordination, with a focus on stabilization

Qualifications

• Current and valid state license as an LPN or Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain it.
• IV certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute mental health needs in an inpatient setting.
• Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, mental status, and safety risks.
• Administer medications as ordered and monitor for side effects.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation to promote unit safety.
• Support admissions, discharges, and transfers, including patient education.
• Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation per policy and regulations.
