Johnson Memorial Health Services seeks a Behavioral Health Intake Specialist to coordinate the intake process for individuals seeking behavioral health services. You will serve as the initial contact for clients, families, and providers, gathering information, verifying coverage, and routing to the clinical team to ensure timely access to care.

This role supports scheduling, referrals, data entry, and privacy protection under HIPAA, while not conducting clinical assessments.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of health insurance coverage, benefits, eligibility, and authorization processes.
• Computer proficiency with electronic medical records systems (EPIC preferred).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate intake paperwork and collect demographic and presenting concern information.
• Verify insurance coverage, benefits, eligibility, and collect copayments.
• Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and referrals to behavioral health programs and external providers.
• Recognize urgent concerns and notify clinical personnel per protocol.
• Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Perform data entry, reporting, and other administrative duties to support intake operations.
