Job summary

Integrated Services for Behavioral Health in Southeast, Ohio is seeking a Client Insurance Specialist to help clients navigate insurance coverage and payer requirements from clinics and in-home visits.

You will verify eligibility, assist with authorizations, communicate renewals, and support billing workflows while ensuring HIPAA compliance and collaboration across departments. Travel within service areas is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years in behavioral health insurance verification, authorizations, or related fields.
• Experience in community mental health or healthcare environment preferred.
• Knowledge of Ohio Medicaid, managed care, and payer authorization processes.
• Ability to maintain confidential information and adhere to HIPAA.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide staff education and consultation on insurance coverage and payer requirements.
• Develop workflows and materials to improve client insurance navigation.
• Serve as escalation point for complex insurance questions and coverage concerns.
• Monitor renewals, coverage changes, and payer updates.
• Extract and organize insurance data in the electronic records.
• Communicate self-pay agreements and collect payments when applicable.
• Maintain internal lists and updates on insurance changes.
• Collaborate with clinical and billing teams to ensure accurate client insurance information.
• Track Medicaid and waiver changes affecting authorizations or access.
• Collaborate with utilization review to minimize service interruptions.
• Use data analytics to identify trends and gaps in coverage.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and mandated reporting.
• Travel within designated service areas.
• All other duties as assigned.
