Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Six months or more experience with the specific population preferred.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire). First aid may be required per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensures wellbeing of clients and provides a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment.
• Maintains constant awareness and supervision of clients.
• Conducts safety checks and ensures supervision per guidelines.
• Checks clients for contraband and manages valuables.
• Interacts with clients, observes behaviors, and communicates observations to supervisor.
• Encourages attendance at group therapy and promotes participation.
• Facilitates client educational-rehabilitative groups on social and coping skills.
• Takes and records vital signs and reports changes to charge nurse.
• Charts in client records timely and accurately.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and participation.
• Supports unit cleaning and organization of charts.
• Initiates client/employee incident reports.
• Provides transfer or transportation when needed.
• Gathers shift reports and prepares thorough handoffs.
