Job summary

Raleigh Oaks Behavioral Health in Garner, NC is seeking an Intake Coordinator to serve as the single point of entry for admissions, managing daily intake operations, scheduling, and insurance verification. The role requires collaboration with clinical and office staff and attention to accurate data collection to support smooth admissions.

The Intake Coordinator will respond to inquiries about services and bed availability, coordinate pre-registration, and verify eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field preferred.
• One or more years’ experience in healthcare admissions required.
• Experience in patient assessment, referral, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Outstanding interpersonal and interviewing and assessment skills; telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-admission screenings and schedules assessments.
• Provides coverage for the Call Center team, answers phones, reviews and accepts patients, verifies insurance, and assists with pre-certifications during high volume.
• Works with business office, nursing and clinical staff and external parties to ensure timely admission of patients.
• Refers inquiries to other agencies and community resources when not appropriate for facility assistance.
• Provides information and referral services for internal and external customers.
• Presents clinical information to a member of the medical staff for intake approval.
• Verifies insurance upon intake.
• Maintains all documentation involved with admissions process.
• Maintains ongoing communications with referral sources concerning patient status and services.
• Provides clerical support to admissions (collating folders, auditing charts, etc.).
