Job summary

Baxter Health in Mountain Home, AR is seeking a Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator to be the first point of contact for patients and families seeking inpatient services. You will conduct initial screenings, coordinate assessments, ensure patient safety, and facilitate admissions, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure timely access to care.

The role requires strong communication, ability to handle intense emotional situations, and familiarity with HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

• RN, LPN, LPC, LMSW, or LCSW licensing preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related field, or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor minimum.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a hospital or related setting.
• Comfortable with serving low income, frail, and culturally diverse adults with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Responsibilities

• Answer referral calls and gather initial information.
• Perform or coordinate safety screenings.
• Coordinate medical clearance.
• Prepare admission packets and consents.
• Provide handoff to inpatient unit staff.
• Provide resources to assist in health-related decision making.
• Communicate with patient’s families and caregivers.
• Maintain complete chart notes and HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and outside agencies.
• Participate in de-escalation training and certification.
• Coordinate workflow between 6 South and 3 South units.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and internal guidelines.
