Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students with special needs.
• Participate in activities planned by the school district staff.
• Assist in the preparation and development of instructional training activities and materials.
• Assist with in-class activities per instructions.
• Maintain a neat and organized classroom environment and materials.
• Use effective teaching and behavior management techniques to maintain a good learning atmosphere.
• Under supervision, assist with assessing student needs.
• Provide staff with general impressions and observations of students.
• Work with students individually, in small groups, or learning centers as planned by staff.
• May assist with classroom technology, adaptive devices, and equipment.
• Assist with social skills and toileting, diapering, dressing, and hygiene.
• Keep restroom and changing areas organized.
• Administer emergency treatment when necessary.
• May accompany children to the community.
• May be assigned to more than one school location.
• Assist with playground supervision.
• Collaborate with staff and administration on duties.
• Reinforce lessons/activities with small groups of learners.
• Assist with crisis intervention and discipline.
• Participate in program planning meetings.
• Perform other job-related work as required.
