Job summary

FirstSteps for Kids, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Behavior Technician (Instructors) to support children diagnosed with autism through evidence-based, behavior analytic treatment.

You will work with teachers, parents and BCBAs, gaining hands-on experience in child development during early intervention. Starting wage ranges from $23–$25 per hour, with opportunities for wage increases throughout the year, and paid training that leads to RBT credentialing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; interest in psychology/behavioral health/child development.
• Graduate students in ABA may apply for training hours toward BACB requirements.
• We look for candidates who care about children with autism and related needs.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with teachers, parents, BCBAs and health professionals.
• Pursue RBT credentialing with initial fees paid by FirstSteps as part of paid training.
• Learn from instructors and support staff to deliver evidence-based behavior analytic treatment.

The Behavior Technician Position (referred to as "Instructors" at FirstSteps)

As a FirstSteps Behavior Technician:

• Experience first‑hand a child’s first words, first friend, first shoe‑tie, and much more
• You will work closely with and learn from teachers, parents, FirstSteps BCBAs, and behavioral health/ mental health specialists
• You will become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with all initial credentialing fees paid by FirstSteps in conjunction with our paid training program

Our new team members earn a starting clinical wage of $23 - $25 per hour depending on experience. Our Instructors are also eligible to earn multiple wage increases throughout the year.

• We look for "kid people" and related work, study, or volunteer experience demonstrating an interest in child development and commitment to the care and well‑being of all children

Completed Education:

• We will consider your application with proof of high school graduation and an interest in psychology / behavioral health / child development / mental health
• Graduate students in ABA may apply as Behavior Technicians and be eligible to receive clinical training and supervision hours toward BACB requirements, based on performance, role alignment, availability, and program needs.

Health & Safety Requirements:

• Childhood vaccinations and non-reactive TB test
• Reliable transportation

Ability to lift 50 lbs, sit on floors and/or child‑sized furniture, and quickly move from a seated position to running stance.
