Job summary

FirstSteps for Kids in Los Angeles is hiring Behavior Technicians (Instructors). You will help children diagnosed with autism develop communication, socialization, self-care, and school readiness skills in a caring, supportive environment.

As an RBT trainee, you will receive paid training and FirstSteps will cover initial credentialing fees. You’ll collaborate with teachers, parents, BCBAs, and health professionals to make meaningful progress each day.

Qualifications

• College enrollment or degree preferred.
• Graduate students in ABA may apply.

Responsibilities

• Teach children diagnosed with autism meaningful skills including communication, socialization, self-care, and school readiness.
• Work closely with teachers, parents, BCBAs, and health/mental health specialists.
• Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with initial credentialing fees paid by FirstSteps during paid training.

The Behavior Technician Position (referred to as \"Instructors\" at FirstSteps)

As a FirstSteps Behavior Technician:

You will have the great privilege of teaching our little ones diagnosed with autism meaningful skills including communication, socialization, self-care, and school readiness

• Experience first-hand a child’s first words, first friend, first shoe tie, and much more


• You will work closely with and learn from teachers, parents, FirstSteps BCBAs, and behavioral health/ mental health specialists


• You will become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with all initial credentialing fees paid by FirstSteps in conjunction with our paid training program

Behavior Technician Wage Info

Our new team members earn a starting clinical wage of $23 - $25 per hour depending on experience. Our Instructors are also eligible to earn multiple wage increases throughout the year.

• Graduate students in ABA may apply as Behavior Technicians and be eligible to receive clinical training and supervision hours toward BACB requirements, based on performance, role alignment, availability, and program needs.

Health & Safety Requirements:

• Childhood vaccinations and non-reactive TB test


• Reliable transportation

Ability to lift 50 lbs, sit on floors and/or child-sized furniture, and quickly move from a seated position to running stance.
