Job summary

Jenks Public Schools is seeking a Behavior Technician to support students with autism and related developmental disabilities. The role involves implementing behavior interventions under ABA supervision, collecting data, and assisting with IEP-based plans in a 9-month classified hourly position.

The incumbent will work under BCBA direction to implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols, maintaining confidentiality and safety in all settings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred in behavioral health.
  • Registered Behavior Technician Training.
  • 3–5 years of experience providing behavioral support.
  • Satisfy ESSA requirements: 2 years of study, associate degree or higher, or related credential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group behavior supports and interventions under ABA guidance.

Position: Behavior Technician

Reports to: Director of Student Programs and Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Supervises: None

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor or Associate Degree in behavioral health or related field preferred.
  • Registered Behavior Technician Training.
  • Three to five years of experience providing students with behavioral support preferred.
  • Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by:
    • a. Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or
    • b. Hold an associate’s degree or higher, or
    • c. Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test – Passing Score is 455, or
    • d. Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: Assist in the implementation of behavior skills instruction and interventions designed to meet the specific goals and objectives for children with Autism and related developmental disabilities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Under the direction of the ABA, provide behavior supports and interventions to students in 1:1 and group settings.
  2. Use intensive teaching and environmental behavior interventions.
  3. Follow prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as instructed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  4. Follow and record data for prescribed protocols, as instructed.
  5. Collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior.
  6. Assist with teacher and paraprofessional training consistent with students’ individual education programs (IEP) and behavior intervention support plans (BISP).
  7. Effectively communicate with teachers and paraprofessionals regarding student progress.
  8. Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with students.
  9. Collaborate with the IEP team including student, teachers, parents, paraprofessionals, and outside professionals.
  10. Assist BCBA in preparing student materials as instructed.
  11. Participate in professional development and other training programs, as required.
  12. Maintain student confidentiality.
  13. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract

FLSA Qualification: Non-Exempt

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
