Job description

The Behavior Technician position is a multi‑faced role providing mental health treatment, therapeutic behavior intervention, psycho‑social rehabilitation, intensive intervention, and education services. Services are tailored to the client’s individualized mental health and/or educational needs as determined by the daily/weekly/monthly service schedule.

Schedule: M‑F, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent and age 21 (if serving children/adolescents) is required; alternatively, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or a related human services field is preferred. Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or special needs children is preferred. Must complete agency QBHS training upon hire.

Productivity Requirement: 1,200 hours per year.

Specific Duties, Competencies, Responsibilities, and Behaviors
  • Complete all required training and development activities.
  • Implement clinical competencies specific to the position accurately.
  • Provide behavioral health services per the client’s treatment plan, including CPST and/or TBS services.
  • Collect data, document progress notes, and communicate client progress following internal procedures.
  • Monitor and report client progress toward ISP/ITP, IEP, or treatment plan objectives.
  • Collaborate within a treatment team and apply feedback as directed.
  • Assist with diaper changing, toileting training, and safety procedures for children.
  • Participate in staff development, education, and training.
  • Complete video reviews, self‑evaluations, and feedback processes as requested.
  • Meet productivity requirements.
  • Model professional behavior and decorum, using professional language.
  • Prepare for sessions in advance to maximize treatment effectiveness.
  • Maintain “mix and vary” boxes and related materials.
  • Conduct reinforcer assessments and deliver reinforcement based on ABA principles.
  • Conduct social skills sessions as assigned.
  • Implement behavior plans under supervision.
  • Report required interventions and treatment updates to supervisors.
  • Substitute for other staff when needed and accommodate clients with irregular schedules.
