Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to work on the floor with students who have intensive behavioral needs in Belvidere, IL, across in-district classrooms and partner schools.

You will collaborate with teachers and staff to implement PBIS-based behavior plans, monitor progress, document incidents, and support de-escalation and safety while fostering a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college experience or bachelor's degree highly preferred.
• Experience implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive needs.
• Emotional consistency and resilience to handle stressful situations.
• Flexibility and willingness to support where needed to ensure safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with school staff to support students with intensive behavioral needs.
• Provide monitoring and support across the school site.
• Assist in creating and implementing behavior support plans.
• Record and document behavioral incidents and progress toward goals.
• Utilize PBIS strategies and school incentive programs.
• Assist with de-escalation and crisis management when necessary.
• Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Work with interdisciplinary team to differentiate support for intensive needs.
• Participate in debriefings after challenging situations.
• Facilitate communication with parents.
