Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to join our team serving students with intensive behavioral needs.

You will collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school leaders to implement individualized support plans and maintain a safe, nurturing classroom environment. You will monitor student progress, document incidents, and apply evidence-based PBIS strategies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive needs.
• Emotional consistency and resilience to handle stressful situations.
• Flexibility and willingness to jump in and support across settings for safety.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with school staff and leaders to support students with intensive behavioral needs.
• Provide monitoring and support throughout the school site (classrooms, transitions, etc.).
• Assist in creating and implementing behavior support plans.
• Record and document behavioral incidents and progress toward goals.
• Use PBIS strategies and school incentives; implement de-escalation and crisis management as needed.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment to develop social and behavioral skills.
• Work with interdisciplinary team to differentiate support for more intensive cases.
• Participate in debriefings after challenging situations.
• Facilitate communication with parents.
