Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools is seeking a Behavior Management Specialist to provide 1:1 or small-group support for students with significant cognitive or behavioral needs. This role demands specialized skills, quick thinking, and the ability to respond to deregulated students with care.

Certification in Handle with Care, First Aid and CPR is preferred or can be obtained. The position offers essential duties in IEP meetings, progress tracking, and collaboration with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Two-year associates degree or 60 college credits and/or Para Pro.
• Experience supporting students with behavioral needs and autism.
• Handle with Care certification or ability to obtain.
• First aid/CPR and medication administration certifications are required or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor behavior plans for students.
• Work 1:1 with students needing behavioral support.
• Ensure safety of students and others at all times.
• Provide homebound support when appropriate.
• Consult with parents, guardians and service providers to coordinate services.
