Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools is seeking a Behavior Management Specialist to provide 1:1 or small group support for students with significant cognitive or behavioral needs. The role requires specialized behavioral support and quick thinking, with handling care certification a requirement.

You will implement behavior plans, monitor progress, and collaborate with families and service providers. The position involves active participation in meetings and direct student interaction throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have an associate degree or equivalent credits.
• Experience supporting students with behavioral needs is required.
• Ability to implement Behavior Intervention Plans as needed.
• Handle with Care certification or ability to obtain it.
• Type 3 Driver certification or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans for students.
• Provide 1:1 support or small group support for students with significant needs.
• Ensure student and peer safety at all times.
• Provide homebound service/support when appropriate and necessary.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians and service providers to coordinate services.
• Model appropriate developmental and behavioral skills for students.
• Respond quickly and flexibly to deregulated/stressed students.
• Participate in meetings (IEP, conferences, etc.) to develop goals and plans.
• Assist in activities with students and monitor progress.
• Maintain confidentiality and complete documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
