Job summary

SPLENDORA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Behavior Support Special Education Paraprofessional to assist in a self-contained classroom, supporting students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified teacher and implementing instructional programs, behavior management, and daily activities.

The role involves preparing materials, maintaining an orderly classroom, assisting with records, supervising students, and supporting transfers and personal care as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Associate degree or two years of college study.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate (upon hire).
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Help the teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers and personal care.
• Help manage student behavior, including crisis intervention when needed.
• Recognize and adapt to individual student medical, physical, or emotional needs.
• Develop motor skills and conduct instructional activities with individuals or small groups.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, bus, and other times throughout the day.
