Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living is seeking a Behavior Specialist to provide specialized behavioral support and develop individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP) under supervision. You will train care staff, monitor progress, analyze data, and adjust interventions to improve quality of life for individuals with complex behavioral health needs.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, maintain records, and participate in crisis management as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Must hold a BCaBA or be enrolled in school working toward BCBA.
• Minimum 1-2 years' experience with mentally ill and intellectually disabled adults.
• Experience with behavioral observations and interventions with complex, high intensity behaviors.
• Skilled in teaching and coaching staff to implement Behavior Support Plans (BSP).
• Approved by state, federal, and local entities to work within BSLS programs.
• Maintains mandatory training and certification requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Proficient in speaking, reading and writing English.

Responsibilities

• Meets with assigned individuals to develop and implement BSP under supervisor guidance.
• Reviews and revises BSP and related guidelines with input from stakeholders.
• Trains staff to implement BSP and demonstrates how to work with the consumer.
• Participates in monthly clinical/behavioral consultation meetings.
• Develops and implements crisis management and behavioral support services.
• Provides post-crisis debriefing and conducts reviews.
• Compiles internal and external reports and analyzes data.
• Maintains comprehensive notes and tracking records.
• Participates in team meetings and required trainings; communicates with Supervisor.
• Ensures program records are maintained and reports submitted on time.
• Enters data into electronic consumer database daily.
• Communicates with family members and supports inter-agency meetings.
• Assists with abuse/neglect assessments and investigations; on-call as needed.
