Job summary

Deer Park School District is seeking a Special Education Behavior Intervention Paraeducator to support instructional services at Deer Park Middle School. The role involves assisting certificated staff, supervising students, and helping implement behavior and safety plans.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, using technology for learning, maintaining records, and supporting diverse learners. The position runs 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Hold an ETS paraeducator assessment score, an associate degree or higher, or 72 quarter credits / 48-semester credits at 100 level or higher.
• Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students individually or in small groups under the direction of certificated staff.
• Adapt lessons and activities with teacher approval to supplement classroom instruction.
• Assist with testing and record keeping; develop and maintain student records as directed by the teacher.
• Maintain health and safety standards and report concerns related to student protection to staff or principal.
• Supervise classroom, building, and outdoor activities and support positive student behavior.
