Job summary

RE-1 Valley School District is seeking a dedicated Behavior Paraeducator to support middle and high school students with behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs. The role emphasizes structured, nurturing support under certified staff supervision.

It is a full-time position with a 4-day work week (Tuesday–Friday) and benefits. Salary starts at $17.30 per hour, with district guidelines and a 165-day calendar. Collaboration with teachers and specialists is essential to student success.

Qualifications

• Pass Work Keys Reading Information, Mathematics and Business Writing (unless candidate holds an Associate's Degree or higher).
• Experience working with children or youth.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable per the Board.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group behavioral support.
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and IEP goals; use proactive strategies.
• Assist in instructional activities and classroom management.
• Track and document behavioral incidents and progress; maintain confidential records.
• Assist with toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility as needed; ensure safety.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, therapists, and administration; participate in team meetings.
