Joshua ISD is seeking a Behavior Intervention Class Aide to work in a self-contained setting, supporting students with behaviors that affect learning. You will assist the BIC teacher with behavior intervention, data collection, and social skills development to help students transition back to less restrictive settings.
The role emphasizes direct instruction in small groups and collaboration with campus staff to implement IEPs and behavior plans.

Minimum Salary: $20,160
Work with the Behavior Intervention Class teacher in a self contained setting to support students with behaviors that significantly interfere with academic and social adjustments within the educational setting. Focus on behavior intervention, acquisition of appropriate, replacement behaviors and development of age appropriate social skills to prepare students to return to the less restrictive setting. Maintain high academic standards by providing appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject areas.
High school diploma or GED
Associate's degree, two years of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal
academic assessment required by No Child Left Behind Act.
College hours towards Education Certification (preferred)
Ability to work with children with disabilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Some experience working with children

Personal computer, copier, and audiovisual equipment.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent driving, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Exposure to biological hazards. May be required to assist students with physical and/or emotional disabilities including regular heavy lifting of students; Assist in the control of behavior through physical restraints.
