Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking an hourly Meet and Confer assistant to work under professional staff with students who have behavioral needs. Responsibilities include implementing BIP, data tracking, and providing academic and social skills support.

Requires GED or high school diploma and Safety Care training. Flexibility, good communication, and the ability to collaborate with teachers and families are essential for success in this role within our school community.

Hourly Salary: $22.00

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Under direction of professional staff, work with students individually or in group settings
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for students with challenging behaviors, including modeling and coaching building level staff who work with the student
• Works collaboratively with the building engagement specialist to communicate with families about student progress and ways to support their student both in school and the community
• Maintain data and progress notes for students with behavioral needs
• May include working one-to-one with student to complete assigned tasks
• Collaborate with teachers to provide academic support to the students
• Provide Social Skills instruction to students
• Collaborate with community service providers
• Other duties as assigned

The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when assisting students outside of the classroom.
