Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Before and After School Teacher to join our team in Tacoma, WA. This year-round, part-time role supports the YMCA childcare program and focuses on safety, health, and academic enhancement for school-age children in local schools.

You will lead curriculum and activities, communicate with families, and help maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children in a childcare setting.
• Willing to enroll in and complete STARS training within 60 days of employment.
• Certified or willing to certify in Infant-Child CPR and Basic First Aid within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain positive public relations with members and represent YMCA core values.
• Communicate with parents, students, school staff, and peers.
• Lead curriculum and physical activities for school-age children.
• Promote a safe, engaging environment and follow core YMCA values.
• Ensure site cleanliness and upkeep, and comply with licensing standards.
• Attend family nights, program activities, and staff meetings monthly.
