Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Before and After School Childcare Floater to support our school age program across multiple sites in Tacoma, WA. The role emphasizes safety, health, social growth and academic enhancement for children in year-round care.

This part-time position offers variable hours, with morning and afternoon shifts, and requires background checks, certifications, and ongoing YMCA training. Benefits include membership and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• You are at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
• You have at least one year of experience working with children in a childcare setting.
• You are willing to enroll in STARS training within 60 days of employment.
• You are willing to certify in Infant-Child CPR and Basic First Aid within 30 days of employment.
• You are willing to obtain a Food Handlers permit and complete pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Support various school sites as needed.
• Maintain positive relations with members, parents, students and staff.
• Lead curriculum and physical activities.
• Direct supervision of children and ensure state licensing compliance.
• Attend family nights, program activities and staff meetings.
• Participate in annual campaign to reach site goals.
