Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is hiring a Before and After School Lead Teacher at one of our Tacoma School District YMCA locations.

You will support the YMCA Child Care Program year-round to serve our community with a variety of activity options to explore and develop interests and talents of the youth with a focus on safety, health, social growth, and academic enhancement for children to have fun and thrive in our care.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience working with school-aged children, including prior experience in a childcare or similar educational setting (preferred).
• Completion of 12 or more college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education or related coursework.
• Willingness to complete required STARS training within 60 days of hire and to meet Washington State educational requirements within four years of hire (YMCA support provided).
• Current Infant–Child CPR and Basic First Aid certification and a valid Food Handler’s Permit, or willingness to obtain required certifications within 30 days of hire (YMCA assistance provided).

Job description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is hiring a Before and After School Lead Teacher at one of our Tacoma School District YMCA location. As theBefore and After Lead Teacher, you will support the YMCA Child Care Program year-round to serve our community with a variety of activity options to explore and develop interests and talents of the youth with a focus on safety, health, social growth, and academic enhancement forchildren to have fun and thrive in our care. Compensation:$21.35 to $26.89 per hour(Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Position Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

• Minimum age of 21 years or older.
• Two years of full-time management or supervisory experience (preferred).
• Experience working with school-aged children, including prior experience in a childcare or similar educational setting (preferred).
• Completion of 12 or more college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or an equivalent educational background in early learning or child development–related coursework.
• Willingness to complete required STARS training within 60 days of hire and to meet all Washington State educational requirements within four years of hire (YMCA support provided).
