Job summary

YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City in Edmond, OK is seeking a Jr. Program Staff member to help supervise a safe, well-organized childcare program and participate in group activities with children.

Morning and afternoon shifts are available. Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED, or Jr. staff aged 16–17. CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required (training provided). Starting pay is $11.00 per hour; Jr. counselors start at $10.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required (or training provided)
• Interest in and care for children
• Must be 18+ with high school diploma or GED
• Jr. program staff may be 16-17
• Must attend YMCA trainings and uphold appearance guidelines

Responsibilities

• Establish a positive relationship with the program participants.
• Implement weekly activities for a group of 10-15 children.
• Lead games and activities provided through program curriculum.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children.
• Know where all group members are at all times.
• Take daily attendance and ensure sign-in/sign-out by a responsible party.
• Actively engage children in activities.
• Prepare and distribute USDA and HEPA approved snacks/meals.
• Perform daily count of meals and snacks served.
• Report all injuries and incidences to the site coordinator/director.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
• Display YMCA character values at all times (Honesty, caring, respect, responsibilities).
• Develop meaningful relationships with members, donors and volunteers.
