Job summary

Ymcaokc in Edmond, OK seeks a childcare assistant to supervise a safe, organized program for 10–15 children and to plan engaging activities and games. You will help with attendance and meal distribution while modeling YMCA values.

Ideal candidates are 16+, have a high school diploma or GED, and hold CPR/AED/First Aid certification, renewing annually. Training and a positive, team-oriented environment are provided.

Qualifications

  • Interest in and a positive attitude toward working with children.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification; renew annually.
  • Redwoods trainings to be completed within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
  • Must be 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Position may require work outside regular program hours.
  • Attend scheduled YMCA trainings and uphold appearance guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Establish positive relationships with program participants.
  • Plan weekly activities for 10–15 children.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children.
  • Know where all group members are at all times.
  • Lead games and activities.
  • Take daily attendance and ensure sign-in/out by a responsible party.
  • Engage children in activities.
  • Prepare and distribute USDA/HEPA snacks or meals.
  • Count meals and snacks served daily.
  • Report injuries and incidences to site coordinator.
  • Attend staff meetings and CATCH trainings.
  • Develop positive relationships with school staff.
