Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Bed Management Coordinator to coordinate inpatient/observation bed assignments across ED, PACU, and admissions. You will create accounts for direct admissions, coordinate transfers, and handle decedent-related communications in collaboration with the Capacity Command Center.

The role supports efficient patient movement by prioritizing bed availability, resolving bottlenecks, and working closely with EDs and PACUs across LVHN campuses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to work independently, but can work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of insurances and medical terminology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent telephone skills.

Responsibilities

• Assigns beds for all sites from ED, PACU, and direct admissions.
• Manages telephone calls, including opening transfer center case records for RNs.
• Manages all calls concerning decedent affairs, releases decedents to funeral directors.
• Calls resource to move decedents when needed.
• Coordinates and prioritizes to expedite patient flow activities and prevent bottlenecks.
