Job summary

Beacon Assistant Principal - Special Education for Lincoln Park Public Schools is seeking a qualified administrator for the 2026-2027 school year in Beacon. The role requires leadership of special education programs and compliance with MARSE rules.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, coordinate services, implement PBIS and trauma-informed practices, and collaborate with families and district leadership.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Special Education and Special Education administration.
  • Must meet minimum Special Education Supervisor requirements as defined by MARSE Rule 340.1772 (Full or Temporary Approval).
  • Center Based experience preferred.
  • Experience working with students with Emotional Impairments preferred.
  • Knowledge of assessment and research based instructional strategies.
  • Full approval in at least one area of special education.
  • Five years of successful experience in special education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of Special Education Programs and Services
  • Assist with implementation of appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Assist with implementation and enforcement of code of conduct
  • Assist with implementation of building wide PBIS
  • Assist with training and support for special education compliance
  • Assist with supervision of professional and support staff
  • Assist with the implementation of professional development programs
  • Assist with the implementation of trauma informed and restorative practices
  • Attend local and State meetings and participate on committees
  • Assist with coordination of Medicaid, M-Step, and MI ACCESS programs, and all state testing
  • Assist with evaluation of staff
  • Assist with coordination of parent communication
  • Other duties as assigned

Beacon Assistant Principal - Special Education

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Special Education and Special Education administration
  • Must meet minimum Special Education Supervisor requirements as defined by MARSE Rule 340.1772 (Full or Temporary Approval)
  • Center Based experience preferred
  • Experience working with students with Emotional Impairments preferred
  • Ability to assess the fidelity and efficacy of special education program implementation
  • Knowledge of assessment and research based instructional strategies
  • Full approval in at least one area of special education
  • Five years of successful experience in special education preferred
  • Philosophy in accord with the Lincoln Park Public Schools and the Lincoln Park Board of Education
  • Must meet Federal and State laws and regulations

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education and/or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
