Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in a center-based program is preferred.
• Must meet MCL 380.1531 and related teacher certification rules.
• START Training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt, accommodate, and modify curricula and learning environments for students with autism.
• Assess, teach, and modify instruction for students with autism.
• Implement trauma-informed and resiliency-based strategies and interventions.
• Align student programs with the general education curriculum.
• Develop and evaluate individualized behavior management plans based on functional assessments.
• Use multiple curriculum guides to set functional goals.
• Employ appropriate assessment tools and interventions for autism spectrum students.
• Complete records in a timely manner and communicate with school community.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to provide LRE for students with autism.
• Other duties as assigned by administrators.

DUTIES:

• Adapting, accommodating, and modifying the general education curricula, pedagogy, and learning environments for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Assessing, teaching, and modifying instruction and curricula for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Knowledge and skills to implement trauma-informed/resiliency based strategies & interventions
• Aligning and adapting the student's program with the general education curriculum
• Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized behavior management strategies and plans. Must prepare and implement behavior plans based upon functional behavioral assessments.
• Using a range of curriculum guides to assist with identifying functional goals.
• Employing current assessment instruments and approaches, intervention methodologies, strategies, and techniques that are appropriate for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder linking assessment outcomes to curriculum planning.
• Ability to complete records in a timely manner
• Possess skills to communicate to all members of the school & community
• Be able to meet the physical and mental demands of the teaching profession and the position
• Philosophy in accordance with Lincoln Park Public Schools
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to follow requirements of special education supervisors
• Classroom instruction and instructional leader for meeting the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Ability to coordinate and oversee Peer to Peer program
