Job summary

Altora, a Treetown Tech company in Ann Arbor, is seeking a Battery Technician with 3–7 years of hands-on experience to build battery packs and assemblies from drawings and BOMs. You will split time between pack build, bench with engineers on new designs, and first-article verification, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and traceability.

You will work with the engineering team on new designs, perform test and verification, and produce clear work instructions.

Qualifications

• Three or more years building electromechanical or electrical assemblies, battery pack experience strongly preferred.
• Able to read schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and BOM.
• Solid hand soldering skills; IPC J-STD-001 certification is a plus and can be paid for by us.
• Experience with spot welding, crimping, potting, or heat-shrink and insulation on battery assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Pack build and assembly from drawings and BOM; install BMS boards and sensing leads; ensure proper serialization and traceability.
• Prototype and first-article work with engineering on new designs, providing feedback on buildability and fixture/tools needs.
• Test and verification: run capacity, impedance, and cycle checks; set up cyclers and data acquisition; record results clearly.
• Documentation: create work instructions and redline drawings to reflect actual builds.
• Safety and housekeeping: manage safe handling, storage, and disposal of lithium cells; enforce PPE and practices.
• Support the rest of the shop: cable and harness work, box builds, and general electromechanical assembly as needed.
