Job summary

ŌURA seeks a Supplier Development Engineer – Battery to own end-to-end battery systems for our next-generation products in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role focuses on cell development, assembly automation, and integration into our ring form factors, with hands-on supplier qualification and line bring-up.

Hybrid work in SF Bay Area. The candidate will partner with cross-disciplinary teams to optimize energy density, cost, and reliability, and will travel internationally up to 15% to qualify

Qualifications

• 3+ years in battery or electromechanical manufacturing.
• Experience with lithium-ion/LiPo cell design or battery pack assembly.
• Experience qualifying manufacturing processes from NPI to mass production.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 15%.
• Familiarity with safety/regulatory standards (UN38.3, IEC 62133, UL 1642/2054) a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Define best-in-class battery cell, assembly, and integration processes to meet design, safety, and operational requirements.
• Partner with Battery/Electrical Engineers, Quality Engineers, Material Engineers, and Product Designers to optimize cell design and manufacturing processes.
• Identify, research, develop, and qualify battery cell suppliers, pack assemblers, and automation equipment manufacturers.
• Lead new battery assembly line and automation bring-up — from equipment specification to production ramp.
• Drive suppliers globally to establish and optimize battery cell fabrication, assembly, and pack-integration processes.
• Use data to drive process decisions and influence product and industrial design.
