Job summary

ŌURA is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer – Battery in the San Francisco Bay Area to drive end-to-end battery system development for our ring products. The role focuses on cell design, pack integration, automation, and supplier qualification, with 2-3 days per week in the San Francisco office.

You will lead line bring-up, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage global suppliers to ensure safety, energy density, and reliability. Hybrid work arrangement available in the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of direct experience in battery or electromechanical manufacturing.
• Experience with lithium-ion / lithium-polymer cell design, fabrication or battery pack assembly and integration.
• Experience with global suppliers from NPI to Mass Production.
• Experience bringing up automated battery assembly lines and manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to analyze failure modes and identify root causes.
• Familiarity with battery safety and regulatory standards (UN38.3, IEC 62133, UL 1642/2054) preferred.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Strong communication with leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Define best-in-class battery cell, assembly, and integration processes.
• Collaborate with Battery/Electrical, Quality, Materials, and Product Design teams to optimize design and processes.
• Identify and qualify battery cell suppliers, pack assemblers, and automation equipment manufacturers.
• Lead new battery assembly line and automation bring-up from spec to production ramp.
• Drive global suppliers to establish and optimize cell fabrication, assembly, and pack integration processes.
• Use data to influence product and industrial design, including cell dimensions and tolerances.
